Open the Starplay tuner by clicking on the tune button, found in the main toolbar.
Follow the instructions within the dialog box to ensure your instrument is tuned correctly.
Click the Tune button
Play and hold a note and aim to centre the needle of the tuner. The tuner should display the current note you are playing.
Remember
If you are playing a transposing instrument (eg. Horn or Clarinet) the note you play and the one displayed on the tuner will not be the same. Ask your teacher for help.
Using the Tune tool
If you are experiencing difficulty tuning your instrument, try the link at the bottom which will take you to the Adjust Pitch feature. This feature allows you to 'tune' Starplay to your instrument.
Click Start and play an 'A' (concert pitch). Starplay will determine the pitch of your 'A' and adjust its assessment mechanism to work with your instrument.
